Job Summary

The Alabama Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Library Media Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will be responsible for providing leadership and support for the development and implementation of educational programs and services in our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement educational programs and services that support the curriculum and instructional goals of our schools.
    • Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to design and deliver instructional programs that meet the needs of our students.
  • Collection Development and Management
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive collection of educational resources and materials that support the curriculum and instructional goals of our schools.
    • Evaluate and select materials and resources that meet the needs of our students and staff.
  • Information Literacy and Technology Integration
    • Provide instruction and support to students and staff on the use of information literacy skills and technology to access and utilize educational resources and materials.
    • Develop and implement plans to integrate technology into the curriculum and instructional programs of our schools.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach
    • Develop and implement plans to engage with the community and promote the educational programs and services of our schools.
    • Collaborate with community partners and organizations to develop and implement educational programs and services that meet the needs of our students and community.

Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Library Science or a related field
  • Experience in educational program development and implementation
