Job Overview

As a vital member of our team, you will engage in essential tasks related to the upkeep of linens and various fabric items, alongside performing housekeeping duties and light manual labor to maintain cleanliness in patient rooms, hallways, workspaces, offices, and other facilities. We offer both full-time and part-time positions.

Your work will be conducted under the regular oversight of the Environmental Services Director.
Key Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly cleans, mops, and sanitizes resident accommodations, restrooms, and bathing areas.
  • Wipes down windows, windowsills, window coverings, walls, and furnishings.
  • Conducts specialized cleaning of spaces, disinfecting surfaces, floors, and furniture.
  • Maintains cleanliness in nursing stations, corridors, lobbies, treatment areas, recreational spaces, lounges, and dining facilities.
  • Replenishes cleaning and linen supplies.
  • Empties and sanitizes waste and recycling containers.
  • Washes, dries, counts, folds, and organizes clean linens and garments.
  • Distributes clean linens and garments to various departments and floors, ensuring timely delivery.
  • May operate sewing and mending equipment as needed.
  • Adheres to established protocols for maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of protected health information in line with HIPAA standards and County Policies.
  • Follows safety and infection control protocols diligently.
  • Acts as a Mandatory Reporter as defined in the Code of Iowa.
  • Performs additional related tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED, or experience in building cleaning or laundry operations is required.

Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical, abuse registry review, and criminal background check.

Special Qualifications:
All employees will be subject to the Sunnycrest Manor Mandatory Vaccination Policy upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.

Ability to:
Comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements:
Vision capabilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Effective verbal communication and hearing abilities are essential for interactions with staff, residents, and others. Regularly requires pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance. The role necessitates standing for extended periods, with frequent walking between locations. Must be able to navigate stairs, reach, squat, stoop, bend, sit, push, pull, twist, grip, and apply physical intervention holds. Some exposure to slippery surfaces when floors are wet. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids necessitates the use of personal protective equipment to safeguard against potential biological and chemical hazards. Work is primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
