About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinarian Medical Supervisor to join our team at the ASPCA. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care to a wide range of animals, including those that are victims of cruelty and neglect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage medical cases, ensuring that all animals receive the highest level of care and attention.
  • Develop and implement medical protocols and procedures to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
  • Collaborate with our behavior and operations teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for our animals.
  • Provide medical support for large-scale cases, including NYPD and CE cases.
  • Perform exams, diagnostic tests, and medical treatments with a focus on Fear Free medical handling.
  • Develop and maintain thorough, high-quality medical records, documenting all exam findings, test results, and treatments.
  • Work with partner hospitals to ensure the best possible care for our animals.
  • Respond to after-hours medical concerns and oversee the daily medical care and case flow of the animals housed in CARE.
Requirements
  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure to practice veterinary medicine in New York State.
  • 3+ years of experience in a shelter or veterinary setting, with a focus on shelter medicine.
  • Fear Free Shelter certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
