Position Overview
This role is focused on providing advanced technical support for Linux systems within a diverse enterprise environment, addressing a range of moderately complex technical challenges efficiently.

Department
This position is situated within the Information Technology Operations Division, specifically supporting the Field Intelligence Element.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement shared services and workflows on-premises using VMware, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and/or cloud infrastructures like AWS or Azure.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, develop, and deliver effective solutions.
- Provide expertise in systems and public/private cloud to resolve operational issues and support engineering activities.
- Develop and implement system applications and infrastructure services, including hardware integration and software development.
- Maintain and modify existing operating systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Identify and document requirements for hardware and software upgrades, and recommend solutions for system deficiencies.
- Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and improve scalability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Advanced Responsibilities (for higher-level candidates)
- Manage multiple advanced tasks and priorities, ensuring deadlines are met while leveraging team skills.
- Apply in-depth technical expertise to resolve complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Create tools and procedures to facilitate automation and cross-platform monitoring.

Qualifications
- An active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or an active Top Secret clearance from another U.S. government agency is required at the time of hire.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration with a focus on Computer Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Linux fundamentals, including TCP/IP networking and common infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible) and virtualization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong programming skills in scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python, Shell).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.

Desirable Qualifications
- Professional certifications (e.g., RedHat RHCSA, AWS).
- Experience with cluster storage technologies and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approaches.
