Position Overview:

The Clinical Pharmacist will deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care services to patients at Conway Medical Center. This role encompasses the supervision, assessment, preparation, dispensing, and accurate documentation of patient medication therapies. Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacist will provide essential drug information, patient education, and oversight of medication information systems.

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for maintaining precise records of medication dispensing and managing the systems that facilitate the billing and crediting of medications and treatment supplies. This position also involves educating caregivers, patients, and students about medications, their appropriate usage, and monitoring protocols. Ensuring the availability of necessary medications, along with their proper procurement, preparation, storage, and maintenance, is a critical aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise technical staff involved in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Provide support, education, and oversight for investigational medications, including their preparation, labeling, and availability within the medication management system.
  • Maintain accurate and required documentation for investigational drugs.

Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Prior experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Must hold a current license from the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy in good standing.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within six months of employment.
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and department leaders.
  • Strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational abilities are required.
  • Proficient computer skills are necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to consistently exercise independent judgment is required.
Work Environment:
  • High stress levels due to simultaneous demands are common.
  • Work conditions are generally pleasant and comfortable.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking are necessary.
Physical Requirements:

This role requires light to medium physical activity. The employee will frequently stand, sit, and walk; use hands and fingers; and communicate verbally. The ability to exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 5 to 10 pounds frequently is necessary. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing ability is essential for processing instructions and responding to safety codes and alarms. The physical demands outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
