Job Summary

As a Salvage/Recycle Monitor with Weber County, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of our transfer station operations. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain the flow of customer traffic and activities at the refuse transfer site
Pull recyclables from the main waste stream, separate, and load them into designated containers for shipping
Keep the recycling area clean and direct and monitor both private individuals and commercial haulers who dump refuse at the transfer station site
Direct traffic flow by offering customers clean and concise instructions to enter and/or stop using hand signals and appropriate verbal communications
Advise the public on safe methods of dumping refuse and warn unobservant customers away from the path of heavy equipment and debris

Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent
One (1) year of working with the public and some experience with recyclables and salvaging, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of distinguishing different types of metal and other valuable recyclables
Ability to work under varying conditions, including outside weather conditions, and to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
