Job Summary

Weber County is seeking a skilled Salvage/Recycle Monitor to join our team. As a key member of our Transfer Station operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe processing of recyclable materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pull recyclables from the main waste stream and separate them into designated containers for shipping.
  • Keep the recycling area clean and organized.
  • Direct and monitor private individuals and commercial haulers who dump refuse at the transfer station site.
  • Direct traffic flow by providing clear instructions and using hand signals and verbal communications.
  • Advise the public on safe methods of dumping refuse and prevent the dumping of hazardous wastes and other non-acceptable materials.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor when interacting with fellow employees and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working with the public and some experience in recyclables and salvaging.
  • Knowledge of distinguishing different types of metal and other valuable recyclables.
  • Ability to work under varying conditions and follow standard safety practices and procedures.
  • Excellent public relations skills.

Working Conditions
The work environment is outdoors, with frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and loud noise. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
