Position: Construction Manager
Essential Requirement: K-12 California School Construction Experience
Role Summary:
- Oversees and directs all aspects of the construction phase for K-12 educational facility projects, encompassing mobilization, execution, and project closeout.
- Organizes, plans, and reports on construction management activities and progress to senior leadership.
- Collaborates with public agencies during the construction process to ensure compliance with off-site requirements.
- Manages project budgets and timelines to align with the District's quality standards.
- Handles daily contract administration, assisting Senior Project Managers with bid evaluations, pre-construction meetings, and related award coordination.
- Reviews initial construction schedules, submittals, and responds to contractor inquiries effectively.
- Coordinates project teams and contractors to ensure directives are communicated and that the project scope adheres to plans, specifications, and budget constraints.
- Evaluates contractor submittals to confirm adherence to specification requirements.
- Maintains a log of contractor requests for clarification and ensures timely responses.
- Negotiates with contractors to secure fair and reasonable costs for change orders, assessing their impact on the project.
- Reviews payment applications and manages the fiscal resources of the project.
- Coordinates the District's delivery of necessary fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Performs additional construction management duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience in Construction Management for Commercial and/or Public Facilities, with a preference for Educational Facility Construction.
- 2-5 years of experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA).
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a closely related field. Alternatively, 4 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for the required education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Familiarity with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
- Knowledge of DSA construction/design processes.
- Possession of a valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential from the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).
Compensation: Salary commensurate with education and experience, ranging from $115K to $170K.
