Job Overview:

NESCO Inc is seeking a knowledgeable Fixed Equipment Engineer to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our refinery operations. The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience in a refinery setting, with a strong emphasis on turnaround projects.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Reliability team and turnaround personnel to develop comprehensive Turnaround packages that align with our Engineering Practices and Standards.
  • Assess Turnaround work scopes to ensure adherence to engineering best practices and procedures.
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the planning and execution phases of Turnarounds in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of Turnaround critical paths, activity logic, budget estimates, and anticipated outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with Turnaround processes and procedures, fostering continuous improvement while coordinating with all necessary divisions to guarantee resource availability.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Turnaround Superintendent.
  • Develop, review, and update work instructions and procedures related to Turnarounds, ensuring effective communication of updates as necessary.
  • Guarantee that work activities are executed in accordance with company policies and procedures, promoting safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Engage with planners and materials management to ensure clarity regarding the scope of work and review equipment specifications.
  • Oversee that the execution of scope adheres to engineering standards in the most efficient manner.
  • Document and communicate findings encountered during scope execution, proposing appropriate repair or improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to exchange information on design requirements.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision to accomplish tasks.
  • Notify management of any decisions that deviate from established Engineering Standards, Codes, or Policies.

Meetings Participation:

Engage in various meetings as required, including Business Development Turnover Meetings and Weekly Project Meetings.


Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering standards and techniques related to piping and mechanical fixed equipment.
  • Solid understanding of documentation and document control processes.
  • Proficient in personal computer usage.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong expertise in mechanical fabrication and erection techniques, as well as pipe stress and hanger detail design.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Turnarounds, maintenance, or project construction within a refining or petrochemical environment.
  • Expertise in utilizing and maintaining plant history, P&IDs, and other technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with HSE regulations and Engineering Procedures.

Preferred Experience:

Highly skilled in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or Turnaround Engineering, holding a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of experience in a petrochemical plant or equivalent.


Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required, along with prior experience in a petrochemical plant.


Essential Skills:
  • Knowledge of refinery operations and craft expertise.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret Isometric and Piping Identification Drawings.
  • Familiarity with refinery engineering standards for creating piping packages.
  • Proficient in advanced reading and writing skills.
  • Capability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations and possess computer skills.
  • Availability for on-call duties as needed.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based within a refinery environment, with no travel required. Candidates should be prepared for various working conditions, including exposure to chemicals and operational equipment.


Physical Requirements:

The role necessitates physical activities such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Candidates must be capable of performing precise hand movements and may be required to wear personal protective equipment.
