Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Providence Alaska Medical Center. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive therapeutic and educational programs to pediatric patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, plan, and implement therapeutic programs to promote positive adjustment to hospitalization and illness.
  • Provide interventions to circumvent the negative psychological impact of hospitalization and illness.
  • Work with pediatric patients to facilitate socialization and positive adjustment to the hospital environment.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate activities to promote continued growth and development.
  • Prepare patients for medical interventions through play and discussion.
  • Encourage the use of coping skills during stressful medical encounters.
  • Foster patient self-expression, autonomy, sense of mastery, and positive self-esteem.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or related field.
  • National Certified Child Life Specialist - Association of Child Life Professionals.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree and 2 years of experience as a Child Life Specialist.
