Site Supervisor, Component Managers

OVERVIEW:
This role involves assisting and collaborating with teaching staff to implement developmentally appropriate activities for children in a Head Start classroom. Responsibilities include aiding in the daily preparation and cleanup of meals, supervising children during outdoor play, and accompanying educators and students on field trips. The focus is on promoting health, safety, nutrition, and educational development for the children.

NUTRITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the primary cook or custodian, you will be responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the Head Start center, ensuring cleanliness in food preparation areas, and maintaining overall hygiene standards. Alternatively, as a supporting cook/custodian, you will assist in nutrition-related activities, meal planning, and maintaining food service areas.

TRANSPORTATION DUTIES:
Support the Head Start bus driver in providing safe and timely transportation for children to and from educational sites. This includes monitoring children's behavior and engaging with parents and staff to ensure the well-being of all children.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As assigned by the site supervisor, relevant to the component area.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Orientation Manual for each component area.
  • Agreement to adhere to Standards of Conduct and sign a Conduct Agreement.
  • Completion of a Confidentiality Statement.
  • Initial medical examination and TB assessment within 30 days of employment, with subsequent assessments every five years.

  • Successful completion of background checks, child abuse/neglect screenings, and drug tests, with random testing thereafter.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Exhibit conduct that fosters a positive image to staff, parents, and the community.
  • Understand the responsibilities associated with being a mandated reporter for Child Abuse and Neglect.

PERSONAL QUALITIES:
Emotional maturity, flexibility, patience, respect for children and adults, good personal hygiene, and physical and mental health conducive to fulfilling job responsibilities. Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to observe children effectively are essential. Must be capable of handling responsibilities under pressure, including during emergencies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, as well as risks associated with travel on various road types during transportation duties. Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds frequently, climb onto a school bus, and perform various physical activities such as bending, kneeling, and running. The job may require prolonged standing and sitting in child-sized furniture.
