As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will be expected to uphold excellent public relations for the department while ensuring patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts both manual and automated routine blood analyses.
- Prepares samples for microscopic evaluation.
- Operates various laboratory instruments, including centrifuges and incubators.
- Utilizes experience and judgment to set and achieve objectives.
- Handles a variety of tasks with a degree of creativity and independence.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technician program and successful completion of a national certification exam recognized by relevant professional bodies. Familiarity with standard practices and procedures in the laboratory field is essential.
Education / License / Certification:
A degree in Medical Laboratory Science (Associate's or Bachelor's) is required, along with 1-5 years of relevant experience. ASCP certification is preferred.
Candidates must meet the sensory requirements of the position and demonstrate the ability to perform all laboratory tests and calculations accurately. Participation in the laboratory's Quality Assurance Program is expected. Attention to detail, strong concentration, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment are crucial.
