Job Overview

Position: Teacher Assistant

Program and Location: North Platte Center

Position Summary: The Teacher Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting educators within the classroom environment. This position is dedicated to creating a safe, engaging, and interactive learning atmosphere that fosters problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of the educational curriculum, ensuring that activities are both engaging and developmentally suitable.
  • Assist in the Child Assessment process to track and document developmental milestones through observations and various records.
  • Participate in initial and mid-year home visits, as well as parent-staff meetings.
  • Take on responsibilities of other center roles during staff absences.
  • Contribute to classroom management and assist in lesson planning and execution.
  • Support the implementation of oral health initiatives.
  • Help meet the goals outlined in Individual Education Plans.
  • Actively participate in all Head Start initiatives and exemplify appropriate conduct.

Additional Tasks:

  • Assist in conducting developmental and social-emotional screenings for each child.
  • Support the Teacher in completing assessments of child growth.
  • Help in the development of Child Development Plans.
  • Attend and assist with Head Start events as required.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Candidates without a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential must be willing to enroll in a CDA program to be completed within two years. Support for obtaining a CDA will be provided for the right candidate.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week for 39 weeks annually. Typical hours are between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This role includes summer months off.

Compensation: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour, with starting pay determined by qualifications and experience.
