Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Development and Oversight
    • Create and execute vocational training initiatives that cater to the unique requirements of individuals with TBI and developmental disabilities.
    • Formulate personalized rehabilitation strategies (PRS) that encompass assessments, goal-setting, and progress monitoring.
    • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, therapists, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support and care.
  2. Participant Evaluation and Assistance
    • Conduct initial evaluations to identify participants' vocational interests, skills, and capabilities.
    • Provide continuous counseling and support to participants to help overcome employment barriers.
    • Track and assess participants' progress, modifying programs and objectives as needed.
  3. Job Placement and Employer Relations
    • Establish and nurture partnerships with local businesses to create employment opportunities for program participants.
    • Offer job coaching and on-site assistance to ensure successful job placements.
    • Educate employers on the advantages of hiring individuals with disabilities and provide guidance on necessary workplace accommodations.
  4. Staff Leadership and Development
    • Supervise and mentor vocational rehabilitation personnel, ensuring compliance with program standards and best practices.

  5. Program Assessment and Reporting
    • Develop and implement strategies for monitoring program outcomes and effectiveness.
    • Prepare regular reports for management, stakeholders, and funding bodies.
    • Utilize data analytics to inform decisions and enhance program quality.
  6. Compliance and Quality Control
    • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations as well as accreditation standards.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and legal requirements.
    • Conduct regular program evaluations and quality assurance assessments.
  7. Community Engagement and Advocacy
    • Represent the organization at community gatherings, meetings, and conferences.
    • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with TBI and developmental disabilities.
    • Promote public awareness and understanding of vocational rehabilitation services.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in vocational rehabilitation, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience with TBI and developmentally disabled populations is highly valued.
  • Certification: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or eligibility for certification is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Comprehensive understanding of vocational rehabilitation principles and practices.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
    • Capacity to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in utilizing assessment tools and crafting individualized plans.
    • Competence in data analysis and program evaluation.
    • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Work Environment

  • This role typically operates in an office setting but may require travel to job sites, community events, and participant residences.
  • The position may involve occasional evening or weekend work to meet participants' needs and attend community events.
