Position Overview

The Credentialing Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the complete initial credentialing and privileging processes, as well as the reappointment procedures for all new medical staff and allied health professional candidates, ensuring the highest standards of patient care at Cooper University Health Care.

This role also involves coordinating designated managed care audits. The Specialist will work closely with the Director of Medical Staff Services to ensure adherence to Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission Standards, and other regulatory mandates. The ideal candidate will demonstrate resourcefulness, sound judgment, independence, and strong organizational skills to effectively prioritize and complete tasks.

Required Experience

A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical staff services, specifically in roles that include medical staff and allied health credentialing.

Experience in managed care or a similar healthcare setting is preferred. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), is essential; accuracy in data entry is critical. Strong professional communication skills, along with excellent time management, customer service, organizational, and analytical abilities, are necessary.

Educational Qualifications

An Associate Degree or equivalent experience is required, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Certification Requirements

Preferred certifications include Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) from the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
