Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, monitor, and manage structural engineering scope, schedule, and budget for successful project completion
  • Perform quality management reviews of structural designs by others and work with designers to resolve issues
  • Prepare estimates for cost and schedule of structural engineering services for design and construction
  • Produce Contract Documents for construction of structures, including plans and specifications
  • Prepare structural calculations required for analysis, design, and evaluation of structures
  • Conduct on-site investigations and evaluations of existing structures, including the preparation of reports
  • Work with other project team members to understand and integrate their requirements into the structural design
  • Coordinate details of design between various project design disciplines
  • Mentor and train staff and entry-level structural engineers
  • Assist and coach CADD technicians in developing presentations of structural designs
  • Prepare and review opinions of construction costs for structural portion of projects
  • Assist field staff in resolving issues and questions during construction
  • Assist in continuing development and improvement of structural design standards, specifications, and typical details
  • Develop project-specific designs, standards, specifications, and details for unusual or unique situations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis
  • 15+ years of experience, preferably in the design of water and wastewater treatment structures
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Expert in the application of building codes and code-referenced standards for design of water treatment and industrial structures in concrete, steel, and reinforced masonry
  • Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated experience working with minimum supervision to determine and complete structural engineering tasks while acting as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of specifications for construction using concrete, masonry, and steel
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of presentation of structural design and detailing in construction documents
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of structural design codes and standards
  • Skilled in organizing and coordinating work with both peers and subordinates, and in planning, monitoring, and completing projects within that plan
  • Production and project management skills and experience
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proficient in public speaking roles
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, STAAD or similar finite element software, RISA-3D, TEDDS, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience with Microstation or AutoCAD
  • Registration as a Structural Engineer
  • PE license in CA, OR, WA, or HI
Compensation and Benefits

Carollo Engineers offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 to $150,000 annually, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off and holidays, comprehensive health insurance coverage, pre-tax savings account options for healthcare, dependent care, and commuter expenses, disability insurance, and life insurance options.
