Transforming Infrastructure with Expertise
At Stantec, we're seeking a talented Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our dynamic Bridges Team. As a key member of our transportation team, you'll be part of a group of over 500 bridge engineers who are passionate about expanding our bridge engineering capabilities and working on innovative projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of bridges, walls, culverts, and sign structures, adhering to California DOT practices and AASHTO LRFD standards.
- Conduct engineering investigations, feasibility studies, cost, and risk analysis to ensure project success.
- Assess and identify bridge load ratings to guarantee structural integrity.
- Utilize advanced structural analysis/design software and 3D models to drive project efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to complete bridge construction plans and specifications.
- Prepare structural computations, material quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff, contributing to the team's success.
Qualifications and Capabilities
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates effectively with other design team members.
- Familiarity with codes, legal, and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions, with a plus for California DOT and AASHTO LRFD codes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microstation experience a plus.
- Excellent organization, project management, and communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal abilities and a willingness to work in a team.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural design, with a Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 0-2 years of professional experience in bridge design and analysis, with previous internship experience a plus.
- Licensure: Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) designation preferred or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire.
