Job Summary

Nemours is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team in Orlando, Florida. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for providing laboratory services by performing clinical laboratory procedures and related tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of analytical procedures, quality control, and mathematical functions. You will work closely with our team to ensure accurate and timely results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of analytical procedures using manual and automated methods, and through various clinical laboratory methodologies.
  • Routinely perform clinical analyses in the clinical laboratory by utilizing various methodologies and instrumentation according to laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and validation of complex tests for implementation in all sections of the laboratory.
  • Order, accession, status, and report results of tests performed on patient specimens, monitoring critical clinical issues.
  • Use, calibrate, and perform troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment following established procedures.
  • Collect specimens from patients and others, or assist in assisting physicians at bone marrow aspirate collections.
  • Transport specimens as assigned, following appropriate procedures.
  • Review technical and administrative procedures, staying informed about section changes, procedure changes, and updates.
  • Handle supply and inventory issues, identifying key technical parameters, such as lot numbers, storage requirements, etc.
  • Answer telephone as assigned, interacting with various individuals, including physicians, and other clinical staff, patients, and their families, inspectors, vendors, etc.
  • Follow all laboratory and hospital safety policies, including chemical safety, infection control policies, etc.
  • Train others as assigned, and participate in department and hospital quality and improvement programs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Lab program or Science related program required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience required, including clinical practicum time as a student.
  • Florida Technologist License in Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Microbiology, and Immunohematology required.
  • Nationally/Internationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent required.
  • Willingness to learn other areas is a must.
