Job Description

As a Board Development Training Services Contractor with the Oregon School Boards Association, you will play a critical role in enhancing the effectiveness of school boards across the state. This contracted position offers the opportunity to exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments, with the Director of Board Development overseeing management of the contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement professional development activities grounded in research to develop and strengthen board members' overall effectiveness in school board responsibilities and boards' impact on student achievement.
  • Create written materials to enhance board development through in-person and virtual training, such as webinars or virtual workshops.
  • Provide advice or recommendations for OSBA members on school board governance issues or concerns.
  • Travel throughout Oregon to provide training to members, with a focus on southern, eastern, and central Oregon.

Compensation:
Pay is hourly at $65 per hour for professional time, and $32.50 per hour for travel time. Invoices will be paid monthly, and actual costs such as hotel, meals, and mileage may be reimbursed with preapproval from the Director of Board Development.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience performing similar work (e.g. training/facilitation).
  • Graduate or undergraduate degree in education, public policy, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Knowledgeable of and possesses skill in facilitation, public speaking, and decision-making processes.
