Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment. Responsible for standard maintenance duties and the continued operation of equipment in the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs skilled mechanical/electrical work to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, repair, modify, and install machinery, and equipment, in an industrial laundry facility.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs machinery and equipment. Operates machinery and equipment to determine the cause and extent of component or system failure.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment, replaces defective parts and motors, and cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, and grease gun or other appropriate tools and/or equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, operates, maintains, and/or repairs all boilers, heaters, pumps, and valves.
  • Troubleshoots, operates, maintains, and/or repairs electrical and wiring systems.
  • Completes all assigned work orders and performs preventive maintenance to prolong the life of equipment.
  • Operates all equipment and/or machinery correctly and safely at all times.
  • Observes established safety guidelines at all times.
  • Assists outside vendors and/or contractors by providing information or lending assistance.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance.


Requirements:

1-2 years experience in industrial maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair preferred. Some experience with high voltage, hydraulics, pneumatics, and general knowledge in a production environment with automated equipment. Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and detail-oriented. Physical demands may or may not include the following: the ability to continuously stand, bend, rotate trunk, reach out and/or up, lift and/or carry, climb, and grasp. Must also be able to lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Occasionally for desk work, paperwork, managerial requirements

  • Frequently to move from task to task and to storage area. Distance varies.


Bending:

  • Frequently in the course of equipment repair and maintenance
  • Up to 90 degrees flexion.


Trunk Rotation:

  • Occasionally to repair or maintain equipment


Squatting/Crouching:

  • Occasionally, to pick up, sort, retrieve tools or parts


Climbing:

  • Occasionally for accessing equipment or storage


Reaching out/up:

  • Frequently, to repair or execute maintenance tasks


Grasping/Pinching/Wrist Turning:

  • Frequently to manipulate tools for the purpose of maintaining/repairing equipment
  • Power and precision grasp.

Finger Manipulation:

  • Frequently, to manipulate tools or parts in the process of repairing or maintaining equipment


Pushing/Pulling:

  • Occasionally to move equipment or carts


Lifting/Carrying:

  • Occasionally, up to 100 pounds to take items to and from moving items from one area to another – lifting from floor to 70 inches. Frequently under 50 pounds to manipulate parts or equipment. Distance varies.


Use of Feet:

  • Frequently, to walk throughout the facility and storage areas.
