Job Summary:
This position performs preliminary examinations of patients with ocular complaints, diseases, and/or disorders by initiating and performing technical tests exclusively used in Ophthalmology. These caregivers provide information to and consult with ophthalmologists and optometrists who in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs sub-specialty testing including Humphrey Visual Field, Optical Coherence Tomography, and Fundus photography.
Performs complete ophthalmic history and examinations including visual acuity, color plate assessment, ptosis measurements, motility assessments, confrontation visual fields, cross cover alignment testing, pupillary function (size, shape and for afferent pupillary defects), eye pressure measurements, and dilation.
Performs other various ophthalmic testing as needed, including but not limited to lensometry, refractometry, tonometry (by applanation and/or tonopen), retinoscopy, keratometry, and/or topography. Other imaging may include IOL Master, Pentacam, Lipiview, and A and B scans.
Performs documentation, patient education, clinic flow, and other tasks such as checking blood pressure and vital signs, as delegated by the provider, and reports the results of the ophthalmic testing, history, and examination to the physician.
Prepares patients for further neuro-ophthalmic examination by the attending physician.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, and promptly reporting equipment issues.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant
One (1) year of relevant experience required
Ability to work nights and/or weekends is required for identified positions
Work Environment:
This position is located at Rampart Clinic Neurology & Neuro-Ophthalmology in Denver, Colorado. Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
