Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Child Care Educator to join our team at Play Centers. As a Child Care Educator, you will be responsible for supervising and managing a group of preschool-aged children, planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, and ensuring the health and safety of the children in your care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a group of preschool-aged children, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum, including activities that stimulate cognitive skills, abilities, and development.
  • Provide continuous supervision to children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe classroom environment, setting up rooms and areas for various activities.
  • Record daily observations of children's behavior and activities, monitoring behavioral patterns and developing assessment and profiles.
  • Cooperate with other staff to maintain the smooth functioning of the center, adapting to changing priorities as needed.
  • Schedule parent conferences to discuss children's development and concerns, working with families to devise learning and developmental strategies.
  • Encourage parent participation in center functions, maintaining accurate attendance and enrollment records.
  • Monitor children for signs of child abuse and report incidents to appropriate authorities.
  • Know and implement all health and emergency policies, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Supervise child care assistants and/or child care aides, keeping current with new research and developments in Early Childhood Education.
  • Actively maintain a Level 2 (or higher) in the MSDE Credentialing Program, participating in professional conferences, lectures, and other educational events.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be professionally prepared in a field relating to Early Childhood Education.
  • Must meet the guidelines of the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work the hours scheduled.
  • Ability to maintain a neat and clean appearance.
  • Possess an understanding of child development and the manner in which young children learn.
  • Knowledge of MSDE Accreditation and Certification requirements and standards.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
  • Ability to work successfully in a multi-tasking environment with constant changes in priorities based on center needs.
  • Ability to use independent judgment.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Knowledge of child development theory and practice.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Knowledge of behavior management skills and techniques.
  • Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to make decisions on behalf of the children in order to protect their well-being.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
