About the Role

Zone 5 Technologies is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA. As a VxWorks Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software for Unmanned Aircraft avionics systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop software in support of Unmanned Aircraft avionics design, manufacture, and testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the design cycle
  • Peer review and effective communication are critical to the success of the team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of software engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
  • 5+ years of experience working with real-time embedded development environments (VxWorks, Green Hills, FreeRTOS)
  • Low-level device driver development experience with microcontrollers and application processors
  • Strong C/C++ skills in an embedded environment
  • Experience developing mission-critical systems
  • Familiarity with communications busses and protocols such as CAN, ARINC-825, UART/RS232/RS485, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, etc.
  • Strong debugging skills through use of instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and hardware data sheets
  • Familiarity with C# and Visual Studio IDE
  • Familiarity with revision control systems
