Job Summary

As a Parent Coach/Home Visitor, you will work closely with parents and guardians of children aged 0-36 months to assess, plan, and deliver activities that support children in meeting developmental milestones. You will identify issues, meet family goals, and facilitate the learning and growth of all designated family members in a Home-Based setting.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Recruit and enroll children and families from diverse segments of the community to ensure full enrollment and waitlists of assigned home-based programs.
  2. Conduct home visits to facilitate the delivery of all Head Start component areas, including group socializations and trainings for children and families.
  3. Ensure the screening and ongoing assessment for each child, implementing designated home-based program curricula for each child and family.
  4. Attend or facilitate meetings and trainings as directed by your supervisor, actively participating in community collaborations and affiliations to advocate for Head Start children and families.
  5. Perform recordkeeping, including written documentation, scheduled reports, and mandated reporting, in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner.
  6. Ensure regular communication with families regarding screenings, assessments, and surveys, providing needed information regarding medical, psychological, and social services.
  7. Partner with families on your caseload to identify child and family needs and appropriate ways of meeting those needs through family goals and referrals.
  8. Refer families and children to resources within Northside and community organizations for social services needs as necessary.
  9. Participate in program annual self-assessment and federal reviews, monitoring children's annual physicals and assisting families with obtaining medical support services and documentation of annual physicals and immunizations.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations (HS Performance Standards).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with community members and groups, managers, regulatory agencies, and families both individually and in group settings.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations in fields relevant to the position.
  • Ability to write using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and to organize documents accurately.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

AA degree in Social Service, Child Development, or a related field is required. Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) certification is also preferred.
