About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at HDR, where you will play a key role in designing and developing substation structures for high-voltage electrical projects. As a lead engineer, you will oversee and execute structural engineering tasks, including detailed design, calculations, and detailing for fabrication or development of loading and concept drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee structural engineering tasks for substation structures, including rolled steel shapes, lattice steel framing, and folded plate tubular steel shapes.
  • Design and develop foundation designs for substation structures, including drilled piers, spread footings, driven piles, and other types.
  • Support physical substation layout designs, plans, elevations/sections, details, and associated bills of materials.
  • Prepare and review specifications for construction and materials.
  • Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to project team members.
  • Coordinate and perform quality checks and reviews for project deliverables.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on building design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with design calculations and layouts, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
