Fleet Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team at Frito-Lay. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet vehicles, diagnosing mechanical issues, and managing parts inventory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair fleet vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with fleet vehicles
  • Manage parts inventory and order supplies as needed
  • Charge parts and labor to work orders
  • Assist entry-level mechanics with difficult repairs
  • Build relationships with vendors to get estimates for parts and labor
  • Interact with Frito-Lay drivers, vendors, and other team members
Requirements:
  • At least 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work on weekends, holidays, and off-shift
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in tight spaces for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work on/under trucks for an entire shift (8 to 12 hours) with or without a reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is NOT required
  • 5 years of previous experience with documented formal training
  • Ability to read pneumatic and electrical drawings
  • Preventative maintenance on all equipment (3+ Years)
  • Tractor and Trailer maintenance background (3+ Years)
  • Major and minor electrical with the ability to maintain and troubleshoot (3+ Years)
  • Brake Systems (Brake Certification)
  • Air systems
  • Body (panels, frame, doors, etc.)
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Fluid power systems
  • Hydraulic controls
  • Mechanical troubleshooting abilities (3+ Years)
  • Electrical experience (3+ Years)
  • Diesel engine repair experience (3+ Years)
  • Basic computer experience
