Job Summary

Fay Block Materials Inc is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing effective troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair on a variety of fleet equipment at our shop or at remote locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Repair and Maintenance: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, emissions, instrumentation systems, braking systems, steering and suspension, drive-line systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical/electronic systems, and other equipment as needed.
  • Inspection and Confirmation: Inspect vehicles to manufacturers and DOT standards, document findings, and submit vehicle condition reports. Road test to ensure that all repairs have been successfully completed and all safety measures restored.
  • Recordkeeping and Administration: Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping, including work orders and inspection logs.
  • Area Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and clean tools and equipment, as well as personnel facilities.
  • Teamwork and Safety: Work cooperatively with co-workers, always wear PPE, and follow all work processes and policies.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED, certification in diesel technology or other specialty a plus.
  • Driver's License and Transportation: Valid NC Driver License, clean driving record, and reliable transportation to work.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 75lbs, and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving: Excellent communication skills, able to work independently and diligently with minimal directions, and apply creativity to solve problems.
