We are a nonprofit organization established in 1974, committed to providing addiction treatment and reducing substance use-related challenges for individuals from diverse backgrounds. Our values of Integrity, Compassion, Respect, and Professionalism guide our approach to care.

The Medical Care Specialist will be responsible for screening clients for potential medical problems, withdrawal severity, and referring them for definitive medical care when necessary. They will provide medical care within their scope of practice and monitor symptoms.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with substance abuse challenges. You will work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team to provide compassionate care, crisis intervention, and de-escalation in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform health screenings for all potential clients
  • Monitor vitals, medical triage, and assess clients' needs for sobering
  • Maintain records of client medication in logbooks and EHR systems
  • Perform assessments, including rapid risk intoxication assessments and vitals, for every client entering the sobering center
  • Document observations every 30 minutes and case notes every 6 hours
  • Create a welcoming environment for participants
  • Perform conflict resolution and de-escalation of hostile clients
  • Respond to crises, emergencies, and other client needs in a timely and appropriate manner

Requirements:

  • Current Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Substance Use Disorders, Mental Health, and Crisis Intervention
  • 2 years of relevant experience, preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Must have a CA driver's license and good driving record in good standing, depending on program

Compensation and Benefits:

  • 100% of medical, dental, Life, and LTD for the employee and 50% for any dependents medical and dental coverage
  • PTO and Holiday pay
  • Retirement benefits after 6 months of service

Salary: $35-$40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Available for a full-time position.
