About the PositionWe are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our faculty as an Open Rank Professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at San Jose State University. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students, conduct research, and contribute to the department's mission of providing a high-quality education to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in Industrial and Systems Engineering, including undergraduate and graduate-level courses in machine learning, data analytics, human factors, and systems engineering.
- Conduct research in areas related to Industrial and Systems Engineering, including machine learning, data analytics, human factors, and systems engineering.
- Advise students, including master's projects and theses, and develop a research program related to their field of interest.
- Participate in department and college committee assignments and in other activities that connect the ISE Department to the College of Engineering and the rest of the campus.
- Participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
- Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related field.
- Record of scholarly activity.
- Demonstrated ability or potential to teach undergraduate and graduate students effectively.
- Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
- Experience in teaching and research in machine learning, data analytics, human factors, and systems engineering.
- Experience in advising students and developing research programs.
- Experience in participating in department and college committee assignments and in other activities that connect the ISE Department to the College of Engineering and the rest of the campus.
