About the Position
San José State University's Industrial and Systems Engineering Department invites applications for two tenure-track/tenured positions at the assistant/associate/full professor rank. The department is recruiting in machine learning and data analytics as applied to Industrial and Systems Engineering and human factors/User Experience (UX) as related to systems engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
- Provide leadership for the department's graduate programs in Engineering Management, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or Human Factors.
- Advise students, including master's projects and theses, and develop a research program related to your field of interest.
- Participate in strengthening the present ties between the ISE Department and its surrounding high-tech industries and establish new connections with high-tech companies.
- Participate in department and college committee assignments and in other activities that connect the ISE Department to the College of Engineering and the rest of the campus.
- The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
- Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related field.
- Record of scholarly activity.
- Demonstrated ability or potential to teach undergraduate and graduate students effectively.
- Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research area addresses either the domain of Human-Robotic Technology Relations and/or Health Equity and Health Infrastructures, Sustainable Futures, Data Analytics and Design Thinking, Supply Chains and Transportation, or Digital Manufacturing.
