Job Title: Director, Planning

Orlando Health is seeking an experienced team leader to serve as the Director, Planning within the Planning and Design Studio.

Job Summary:

The Director, Planning will be responsible for supervising a Planning team to support system-wide campus and facility planning, strategic acquisitions and development, and other special projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Planning team to support and complete due diligence and pre-development activities, conceptual design, planning, and pursuit of necessary entitlements for select acquisitions and strategic development projects.
  • Support the Senior Director of Planning & Design, Director of Design, VP of Real Estate, and Senior Director of Asset Strategy with evaluation of the organization's real estate assets for optimization and growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for interacting with public officials and city/municipal staff, including representing Orlando Health in public hearings, in the pursuit of entitlements or related to planning efforts for future growth.
  • Lead the Planning team to support and/or complete campus master planning and area development planning activities.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and development of planning templates and standard operating procedures in line with industry best practices for the Planning team.
  • Leads the analysis of properties for strategic projects as needed.
  • Proven ability to oversee a team of industry professionals.
  • Serves as an ambassador for the Asset Strategy team during interactions with internal customers and external stakeholders.
  • Supports implementation of the organization's strategic plan.
  • Assists the Senior Director of Planning & Design with special project management and provides implementation support of the planned capital program.
  • Supports select large group space programming initiatives as merited.
  • Responsible for creating informative executive reports for the Senior Director of Planning & Design, on regular intervals.
  • Interfaces with the VP of Real Estate and real estate counsel on real estate-related legal matters as requested.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with all customers, staff, physicians, external consultants and stakeholders.
  • Stays abreast of local and national real estate developments and trends in planning and commercial real estate, healthcare, competitor activities, consumer preferences, economic conditions, new technology, and regulatory requirements to support the organization's strategic initiatives.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental services, architecture, or closely related field required. A master's degree is preferred and may be considered as a substitute for two years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licensure of AICP, AIA, or PE required.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience in the planning, commercial real estate, or healthcare real estate industries including urban planning, architecture, development, site selection, or geography.
  • 5+ years of relevant supervisory management and experience leading staff members and project teams.
