Assistant Project Engineer

This is an entry-level role within the project management career trajectory. Key responsibilities include:

Qualifications:

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Business Development and Preconstruction
  1. Assist the business development team in comprehending potential projects and their requirements.
  2. Engage in quality assurance and quality control review sessions.
Self-Performed Work Understanding

  2. Familiarize with warehouse equipment, rentals, and small tools.
Estimating and Bidding Processes
  1. Conduct quantity take-offs.
  2. Support the project team in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids.
  3. Assist in conducting trade scope reviews.
Scheduling Support
  1. Assist the superintendent and project manager with Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
  2. Learn and comprehend the Last Planner system.
  3. Participate in daily and weekly work planning sessions.
Project Documentation Management
  1. Review all project drawings and specifications.
  2. Manage electronic document uploads and downloads.
  3. Draft and process Requests for Information (RFIs).
  4. Review and process shop drawings and submittals.
  5. Engage in Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination meetings.
  6. Assist in acquiring necessary LEED documentation.
Subcontractor Management
  1. Support the project team in reviewing and processing subcontractor change requests.
  2. Assist in evaluating subcontractor invoices.
Cost Control Measures
  1. Understand various change document types and their appropriate applications.
  2. Assist the superintendent in monitoring labor costs.
  3. Support material procurement and cost coding efforts.
  4. Collect and report cost history data as directed.
Project Meeting Participation
  1. Attend all project and company safety meetings.
  2. Participate in foremen's meetings and document meeting minutes.
  3. Engage in construction coordination meetings and record meeting minutes.
  4. Participate in project start-up meetings.
  5. Contribute to PACE meetings.
Post-Construction Activities
  1. Engage in the punchlist process and monitor progress.
  2. Assist the superintendent and project manager in preparing final as-built plans and documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Participate in business development activities.
  2. Establish relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  3. Attend project management and other company meetings.
  4. Engage in relevant personal and professional development training.
  5. Participate in company-sponsored events.
  6. Support and adhere to established work standards.
  7. Engage in Lean events and promote the McGough methodology.
Physical Requirements:

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a workstation and during meetings, as well as while traveling. The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary, possess dexterity to write and operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and have the ability to hear and speak clearly. Additionally, the employee must be able to distinguish colors on graphs and charts.

Occasionally, the employee will need to visit construction sites, which may expose them to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
