Role Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator for Cardiac and Pulmonary Medicine embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This role adheres to the organization's ethical standards and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

This position requires an experienced Registered Nurse who, in addition to delivering direct patient care, is responsible for promoting an interdisciplinary approach to patient management, optimizing patient flow, staffing, resource allocation, and problem resolution during assigned shifts.

The Cardiac and Pulmonary Medicine unit consists of 29 beds, primarily admitting patients from intensive care units or emergency departments. Our focus on cardiology and pulmonology caters to patients with significant respiratory care needs, as well as those recovering from cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures. The unit is staffed with nursing and respiratory therapy professionals dedicated to high-quality patient care, supported by our medicine, cardiology, and lung transplant services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee unit operations during assigned shifts in accordance with established policies and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Direct patient care activities performed by nursing staff and support personnel.
  • Lead new initiatives and participate in unit, departmental, or hospital-wide committees.
  • Engage with patients and their families regarding nursing care and treatment plans.
  • Implement action plans to ensure safe, quality, and efficient patient care.
  • Maintain the safety and security of patients, families, and staff.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Clinical:
