Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team at Hemphill Construction Company. As a Laborer, you will play a critical role in the success of our heavy construction projects, working closely with pipelayers and operators to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects, including excavation and filling of trenches and ditches.
  • Assist pipelayers and operators as required, maintaining a clean job site and ensuring all tools and equipment are properly secured.
  • Load and unload trucks, haul and hoist materials, and ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Valid appropriate state driver's license (general operator license). Commercial driver license (Class A or B) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, lift heavy objects, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Work Environment

Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint, or throw an object.

Excellent stamina is required. Noise level is generally loud. Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
