Aerospace Maintenance Director

Total Aerospace Services is currently seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Maintenance Director to join our team in Chicago, IL.
The estimated salary for this position is $115,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including dental, medical, 401(k), PTO, and sick pay.
About the Job:
We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional to lead our maintenance operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing aircraft maintenance at our line station. This includes ensuring cost-effective and reliable maintenance operations in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Mechanics: Lead a team of mechanics in overall maintenance operation in compliance with 14 CFR, manufacturers' specifications, company policy, and procedures.
- Schedule Management: Assist in developing effective schedules to meet operational demands, utilizing manpower and schedules to complete maintenance effectively.
- Work Prioritization: Keep informed of work-in-progress status and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Staffing: Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained.
- Innovation: Develop innovative solutions to improve aircraft maintenance processes.
- Maintenance Base: Ensure the maintenance base has adequate materials, calibrated tooling, and equipment.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain the facility in good working condition.
- CAS Process: Evaluate the Continuous Analysis and Surveillance System process to ensure best practices.
- Accident Reports: Complete detailed accident or damage reports and make recommendations for prevention.
- GMM Updates: Recommend changes to the GMM to eliminate conflicts and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Support: Support other locations' maintenance operations by considering company-wide interests.
- OSHA/Safety: Ensure OSHA and safety guidelines are followed.
- Safety Training: Ensure safety training of all mechanics.
- Aircraft Status: Manage timely and accurate information on aircraft status and communicate with Maintenance Control.
- Vendors: Coordinate with human resources and vendors to ensure timely services.
- Culture: Foster the company's core values and culture throughout the work environment.
- Hiring: Screen, interview, and recommend potential employees for hiring.
- Coaching: Coach and provide leadership, direction, motivation, and supervision of direct reports.
- Appraisal: Appraise performance, provide feedback, take corrective actions, and oversee training and development.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- High School Diploma: High school diploma or equivalent with an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
- A&P Experience: 6 years of A&P experience on similar aircraft, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead position.
- Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Aircraft Maintenance, or a related field, as well as RII and Run and Taxi qualifications on applicable aircraft.
Other Requirements:
You must possess a stable employment history, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record. You should also be able to work in a team setting and individually, prioritize multiple tasks in a stressful environment, and communicate effectively at all times.
Regulatory Requirements:
You must be able to pass an FAA-required 10-year work history review, pass criminal background and fingerprint checks, and submit to and pass FAA and company-mandated random drug and alcohol tests.
Language Skills:
You must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, associates, and the general public.
Reasoning/Problem-Solving Ability:
You must be able to define problems, deal with various variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Decision Making:
You will make daily decisions on resource use, performance, and budgets, which may require additional expenditures if sound decisions are made.
Physical Demands:
You will be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, and reach with hands/arms up to 20% of the time, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl up to 20% of the time, lift up to 50 pounds at least 20% of the time, and see to perform work and approach vehicles, aircraft, and machinery.
Work Environment:
You will work near moving mechanical parts, work with fumes or airborne particles over 50% of the time, work in high, precarious places up to 10% of the time, work around toxic or caustic chemicals up to 10% of the time, and work in outdoor weather conditions within an open-air hangar up to 20% of the time.
