Position Summary:
Under the general guidance of the VP/Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for executing a diverse range of accounting tasks, financial analysis, and reporting, necessitating a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts daily assessments of financial transactions, evaluates financial standing, and generates monthly reports for the board; assists with accounts payable operations.
- Performs reconciliations and reviews of various accounts and financial statements, including:
- Freddie Mac Accounts
- Prepaid Accounts
- Monthly internal bank account statements
- Federal Reserve Account
- Other correspondent bank accounts
- General Ledger Accounts
- Manages reporting and remittance to Freddie Mac.
- Handles the opening and closing of brokered certificates of deposit.
- Records entries for Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) advances and interest payments.
- Contributes to the preparation of quarterly Call Reports and develops reports for management, directors, and shareholders.
- Investigates inquiries thoroughly to provide timely resolutions or escalate as necessary.
- Supports payroll accounting functions.
- Assists with various corporate documentation, including lease agreements, insurance policies, and financial reports.
- Helps prepare the monthly ALCO report package.
- Generates assigned reports, including spreadsheets.
- Maintains accurate records and information to ensure ongoing operational efficiency.
- Provides general clerical support for the department.
- Engages in special projects as assigned, completing various analyses and studies.
- Complies with all State and Federal Banking Regulations.
- Acts as a backup during the absence of any Accounting Specialist or the VP/Accounting Manager.
Qualifications:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:
A degree in accounting or a related field is preferred; or two or more years of relevant experience in accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Banking experience is preferred.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions and address problems with concrete variables.

Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software.
Other Qualifications:
Willingness to work extended hours during month-end processing.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this role include regular sitting, using hands for tasks, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.
