KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define and implement Product Quality Standards that meet customer expectations.
  • Oversee and facilitate the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for new production initiatives and ongoing modifications, including the creation of PFMEAs, identification of Special Characteristics, Process Control Plans, Measurement Systems, Inspection Planning, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Formulate Quality plans and enhance the efficiency of production Quality Control Loops (Build, Confirm, and Audit Effectiveness).
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts and continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing build quality, utilizing methodologies such as 8D and Lean Six Sigma (LSS).
  • Develop and refine Quality procedures, processes, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with personnel from various departments, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering.
  • Manage product quality containment for non-conformances related to processes, suppliers, or engineering.
  • Direct and support Quality functions, including dimensional layout, corrosion testing, and gage calibration as necessary.
  • Guide and implement changes to the Quality System in support of new models and engineering modifications.
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers in executing Quality Engineering responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership and support for Quality Business Plan Deployment, Integrated Product Teams (IPT), Product Development Teams (PDT), Engineering Change Notices (ECN), Engineering Try-Outs, and Production Trial Runs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field, with relevant experience in the Automotive, Defense, or Manufacturing sectors.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Automotive, Defense, or manufacturing-related roles.
  • Proficient understanding of AIAG quality core tools, including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process Control Plans (PCP), Inspection Planning, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with dimensional Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and check fixtures.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with problem-solving methodologies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position operates in both an office and manufacturing environment, often assigned to specific shifts. The employee must perform job functions in varying conditions, including extreme temperatures and exposure to loud noises.
