Job Title: Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance

DeLallo Foods is seeking a highly qualified Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance to oversee the Food Safety and Quality Systems for our various facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain Food Safety and Quality Systems for all facilities
  • Develop and implement HACCP plans and serve as HACCP Coordinator
  • Maintain SQF Practitioner Certification and coordinate FSMA Preventive Controls Program
  • Oversee Food Safety Managers in all DeLallo facilities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate all audits, including internal, regulatory, 2nd party, and 3rd party audits
  • Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies and accompany regulatory inspectors
  • Determine the release or hold of finished goods and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Remain current on updates to state and federal food safety regulations and notify upper management of changes affecting DeLallo operations
  • Oversee production facility operations to ensure control is maintained over the process
  • Educate and direct Quality Control Specialist and production staff on food safety, HACCP, GMPs, personal hygiene, and food security
  • Coordinate chemical and sanitation training for sanitation staff and update proper methods and sanitation of production facility
  • Meet regularly with Plant Operations Manager and Supervisors to discuss strategic planning, new projects, and updates to food safety and quality systems
  • Conduct evaluations of vendors by conducting on-site audits and perform daily QC checks on the production line
  • Provide technical expertise to company Administration and Sales Department regarding food safety and regulatory issues
  • Respond to technical questions raised by corporate customers and complete information requests by customers and sales team
Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to understand scientific technical writing and government regulations
  • Ability to read, write, and make calculations as they pertain to the job task
  • Ability to organize daily work and tasks of staff in an efficient manner
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a science field such as Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related fields of study
