Position Summary
The Site Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and driving continuous improvement at the manufacturing facility in accordance with all safety, cost, delivery, and quality expectations. The position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations. They will ensure that all expected measurements of performance are safely met. Functions reporting to the Site Manager are Safety & Environmental, Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Technical.
Key Responsibilities
- Drives key business objectives to meet commitments and process improvements.
- Constantly reinforces a strong safety culture through leadership, the creation of hazard awareness, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Ensures compliance to local, state, and federal regulations, including, but not limited to, OSHA PSM, RMP, DHS CFATS, EPA Title V air permit, and NSSD effluent permit.
- Ensures continuous improvement of the Site's ISO 9001 (quality) and FSSC food safety) programs.
- Develops and implements long-term site capacity plans.
- Reduces operating costs by instilling a continuous improvement mindset and with efficient personnel usage, process optimization projects, and debottlenecking efforts.
- Is regularly present on the shop floor and is the leader for plant housekeeping.
- Monitors product standards and ensures production operators receive the training necessary to work safely and produce products of prescribed quality.
- Drives succession planning and development to ensure talent growth and long-term sustained site productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required. BS Chemical Engineering strongly preferred. MBA a Plus.
- At least +7 years' experience in a chemical manufacturing plant (batch process preferred) and a minimum of 3 years of chemical plant management.
- Has well-developed communication skills and leads by example.
- Must have expertise in manufacturing standards and metrics (e.g., KPIs) for safety, quality, production, labor, and material variances, and employee relations and retention; establishes a culture of accountability through individual and team metrics.
- Experience in applying Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques. Has a demonstrated track record of driving positive change.
- Previous experience in organizational planning and people development.
