Job Title: Plant Engineer

Vantage Specialty Chemicals is a leading supplier of naturally derived specialty ingredients and formulations. We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Engineer to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA.

Job Summary

The Plant Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and supervising capital and non-capital projects in support of our manufacturing operation. This includes applying engineering principles, chemistry, physics, and computer science to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop project plans, including capital estimation, project justification, and budget management.
  • Supervise project execution, including contractor management, startup support, and coordination with site departments.
  • Develop and deliver training to site personnel on new or modified systems and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Specify and organize plant trials or laboratory experiments to establish optimal process parameters.
  • Establish manufacturing standards and monitor plant performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in commissioning new plant equipment and troubleshooting existing processes.
  • Contribute to the development of reliability and maintenance programs for new and modified equipment.
  • Drive process improvements using lean technologies.
  • Assist in HAZOP studies and safety-based facility upgrades.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with relevant project/process engineering.
  • Knowledge of engineering science and technology, including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, develop solutions, and find root cause of plant safety and operational issues.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems, PLCs, automation, mechanical systems, utilities, and reliability.
