Job Summary

Under the direction of a registered nurse, provide routine patient care within the scope of the Practical Nurse Act of Pennsylvania. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the physical, medical, and psychosocial needs of residents are met.

Responsibilities
  • Assure equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate department.
  • Establish effective communication strategies and professional interpersonal relationships.
  • Participate in health care conferences and contribute to universal unit activities.
  • Assist the RN and interdisciplinary team in evaluating, planning, and implementing plans of care.
  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medication, taking vital signs, and performing basic diagnostic tests.
  • Observe and record patient symptoms, condition, and reactions to medications and treatments.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families about hospital stay and home care concerns.
  • Perform assigned work in a timely and productive manner and adhere to all policies and practices relative to patient care.
Requirements
  • Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • CPR certification based on AHA standards.
  • Must complete licensure examination within four months of hire or within one year of graduation.
Clearances
  • Act 34.
  • OAPSA - Older Adults Protective Services Act.
