This role is designed for the academic year.
Compensation:
Certified Educators starting at $64,000*
Non-Certified Educators starting at $56,000*
*The starting salary for Certified Educators includes a $5,000 hiring incentive for Certified Science Teachers, a $2,000 stipend for STAAR Tested subjects, and a $5,000 bonus for late hires.
Note: The late hire bonus for STAAR Tested subjects is allocated based on course load as applicable.
Primary Objective:
Facilitate engaging learning experiences and activities in the designated academic subject area to assist students in realizing their full potential across intellectual, emotional, physical, and social dimensions. Foster the development of essential skills and competencies for successful societal participation.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Valid Texas teaching certificate with necessary endorsements or training for the assigned subject and level is preferred.
Proven proficiency in the designated core academic subject area.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
In-depth understanding of the assigned core academic subject.
Familiarity with curriculum development and instructional methodologies.
Ability to effectively instruct students and manage classroom behavior.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
Experience: A minimum of one year of student teaching or an approved internship is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Strategies:
1. Design and execute lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and provide documented evidence of preparation as needed. Create lessons that accommodate individual student differences.
2. Plan and utilize suitable instructional strategies, activities, materials, and technology that reflect an understanding of students' learning styles and needs, adhering to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, district policies, and administrative regulations.
3. Assess student learning styles and utilize the results to inform instructional planning.
4. Collaborate with special education teachers to adapt curricula for special education students as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
5. Work alongside other staff members to establish instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district standards.
6. Delegate tasks to instructional aides and volunteers, overseeing their completion.
Student Development:
7. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through both formal and informal evaluations.
8. Take on responsibilities for extracurricular activities as assigned, sponsoring approved outside activities.
9. Serve as a positive role model for students, supporting the mission of the school district.
Classroom Management:
10. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and supports the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
11. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
12. Implement necessary precautions to safeguard students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
13. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional resources.
14. Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documentation.
Communication:
15. Establish and maintain professional relationships and open lines of communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Development:
16. Engage in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills.
17. Adhere to state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom educators.
18. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
19. Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Duties:
Oversee the work of assigned instructional aides.
