Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a Radiology Student Intern to provide X-Ray services to patients within the student scope of practice. As a Radiology Student Intern, you will work under the supervision of experienced technologists and physicians to prepare and position patients, select exposure factors, and assist with imaging procedures.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Prepare and position patients for X-Ray procedures, ensuring accurate and safe imaging.
  • Assist supervising technologists and physicians with various imaging procedures, including X-Ray, CT, and MRI.
  • Follow radiation protection and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Administer contrast media and medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately to ensure high-quality images.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
Education and Experience
  • Enrolled in an accredited radiology program, with a focus on diagnostic imaging and patient care.
  • No prior experience required, but a strong desire to learn and grow in the field of radiology.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking, with frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
Required Professional License and/or Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
