Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and motivated MPO Associate Planner to join our team at the City of Farmington. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of transportation planning projects and contribute to the development of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the daily operation of the MPO, including scheduling, drafting public notices, and reviewing staff reports.
  • Coordinate with the New Mexico Department of Transportation to ensure projects are completed within established deadlines.
  • Perform professional and technical transportation planning activities, including researching, preparing technical reports, and making presentations to boards and commissions.
  • Assist in the preparation of MPO Quarterly Reports and develop updates to the TIP, UPWP, and MPO budget.
  • Oversee the traffic count program and provide outreach to the community to ensure public input and participation.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in urban planning, city planning, or a closely-related field.
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Extensive background checks required.
  • Proficiency in urban planning theory and methodologies, demographic and socioeconomic estimation, and citizen participation methods.
Work Environment

The work environment is a dynamic and fast-paced office setting with occasional outdoor work required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and work in outside weather conditions.
