Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist II is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures on all patients. Evaluating image quality and utilizing proper radiation safety practices are essential skills for this role. Key Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of main department, interventional radiology, surgery, emergency department, and outpatient surgery.
2. Demonstrates knowledge and skills needed to perform all radiology procedures per protocol and adjusts techniques according to patient needs, i.e., critical or emergency. Consults with providers as needed.
3. Provides practical instruction for students and other healthcare professionals.
4. Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients.
5. Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure, including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical records.
6. Practices safety at all times, adhering to ALARA principles for proper radiation safety for team members and patients, using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices, and following hand hygiene to comply with government agencies or other regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
• High School diploma or GED preferred
• Must be 18 years of age
• Graduate of an accredited radiography program
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Wisconsin license
Work Environment
This position would be eligible for a weekend contract. The Radiologic Technologist II works in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments, occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The position requires occasional high noise levels and possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
