Safety Assurance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Assurance Engineer to join our team at Virgin Galactic. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our spacecraft systems.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement process assurance plans and standards based on 14 CFR Part 450 regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure project plans meet development assurance levels for aircraft functions, systems, or items.
- Define and implement project communications, coordination, and sequencing, as well as progress monitoring mechanisms.
- Work with development teams to modify and correct design assurance processes to meet safety program objectives.
- Test witnessing for software and complex electronic hardware.
- Perform process assurance audits for software and complex electronic hardware design projects.
- Audit configuration, change management process, and problem report resolutions.
- Collaborate with engineering fields and liaise with software and complex electronics hardware specialists to meet regulatory and standards requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in software or complex electronic hardware development life cycle.
- Experience with airborne systems development process assurance and ability to develop plans and standards in accordance with SAE ARP 4754A, SAE ARP 4761, RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-254, and other applicable guidelines and standards.
- Experience with RTCA/DO-178C and RTCA/DO-254.
- Familiarity with avionics standards, such as ARINC 429, ARINC 825, and ARINC 664.
- Familiarity with system safety processes and integration with engineering design and development processes.
- Knowledge of FAA commercial space regulations, CFR §400.
- Project management skills.
- Flight operations experience within an aerospace organization.
- Previous OEM aircraft manufacturing or overhaul operations experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
Virgin Galactic offers a competitive salary range of $85,900.00–$131,000.00, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, financial, and other benefits.
