POSITION OVERVIEW:

The role involves coordinating and delivering tailored instructional programs for students with special needs, ensuring compliance with their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). This position requires ongoing assessment and evaluation of educational strategies for students with disabilities while upholding confidentiality and adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Comprehensive understanding of instructional methodologies and practices tailored for specialized education;

- In-depth knowledge of standard curriculum benchmarks and developmental milestones appropriate for various age groups;

- Strong familiarity with state and federal regulations governing services for students with disabilities;

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Workspace;

- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities;

- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with applicable privacy laws;

- Competence in collaborating effectively within a team environment;

- Skill in motivating and engaging students;

- Capacity to continuously monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of students;

- Ability to recognize and accommodate diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles;

- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written, utilizing various techniques to facilitate information sharing and collaboration;

- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess or be eligible for a Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area;

- A valid driver's license in accordance with state regulations is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Certifications in First Aid and CPR;

- Training in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and implement IEPs for students with disabilities, utilizing assessment data to make necessary updates.

2. Apply instructional strategies and monitoring tools to deliver specialized instruction effectively.

3. Support students in achieving curriculum objectives and IEP goals.

4. Utilize diverse teaching methods and adapt materials to meet individual student needs.

5. Oversee student behavior, maintain classroom discipline, and instruct students in appropriate behavioral strategies.

6. Assess student work and progress, adjusting instruction as needed, and coordinate grading for progress reports.

7. Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with team members.

8. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in education through professional development opportunities.

9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be capable of operating various office equipment and communicating effectively. The role may require lifting, carrying, or exerting force up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 25 pounds frequently.

WORK SETTING

Must be able to work in both classroom and office environments, interacting with staff, students, parents, and the community.
