Behavioral Intervention Specialist

A New Hope is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Intervention Professional to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with clients aged 3-21 to help them acquire and demonstrate everyday skills, leading to a more independent life.
Job Summary:The Behavioral Intervention Professional will work extensively with clients to implement approved plans and objectives aimed at improving skills and reducing maladaptive behaviors. This role requires a strong understanding of child development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in various environments.
Responsibilities:- Implement approved plans and objectives to improve skills and reduce maladaptive behaviors in clients aged 3-21.
- Work out of office in different environments to suit the client's needs, including business, home, community, and office settings.
- Transcribe accurate and detailed case notes from client sessions, including communication with the client's family and supervisor.
- Provide a thorough description of treatment protocol to families/caretakers.
- Make quick decisions while adhering to standard rules and protocols tied to behavior intervention and individual treatment plans.
- Ensure client safety and engagement during therapeutic interventions, and make reports to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare or law enforcement in the event of a client at risk of or directly experiencing abuse.
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Master's degree or higher in a human services field (e.g., psychology, sociology, education, etc.).
- 1,200 hours of supervised experience working with individuals aged 21 and under who have a developmental disability.
- Be free of communicable diseases.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
- Basic technology skills (MS Office, online form completion, use/editing of digital documents, etc.).
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle with current insurance.
- Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) training.
- Patience with both client and family members.
- Approachable to clients and their families, willing to share intervention strategies and desired outcomes.
- Independent, able to stay on task and create individualized routines based on implementation plans.
- Extensive background with children and families, highly knowledgeable in child development.
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and nonverbal.
- High attention to detail in written notes and descriptions.
Working conditions vary and involve the ability to adapt in several environments. Work may require frequent weekend and evening work, and will require frequent local travel.
Compensation and Benefits:Hourly wage or salary is $30.00 per hour, and largely dependent on amount of past experiences and level of education. Travel during shift is reimbursable. After a 60-day waiting period at full-time status, health, dental, and life insurances can be obtained.
