Company Overview

WEC Energy Group, through its subsidiary WEC Business Services LLC, is looking for an IT Principal specializing in Risk and Compliance. This pivotal role is based in a flexible hybrid work environment.

Position Summary

The IT Principal – Risk and Compliance is a key leadership position tasked with the effective development and execution of strategies related to internal policies, processes, controls, documentation, and training focused on cybersecurity risk and compliance, along with the support of relevant compliance tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the prioritization of compliance initiatives, and create, implement, and uphold processes to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Conduct and provide guidance on risk assessment methodologies, change management, incident reporting, and response strategies.
  • Support the enterprise-wide cyber risk strategy to identify and categorize risks, establish acceptable tolerances, prioritize mitigation efforts, and evaluate risk levels.
  • Inform leadership of potential impacts on governance, risk, and compliance obligations; collaborate with industry peers to shape future standards and requirements.
  • Review and refine enterprise-wide cybersecurity policies and minimum standards to align with business goals, legal requirements, and regulations; manage metrics and exception processes for cybersecurity policies, tools, and architecture.
  • Direct the enterprise-wide cybersecurity awareness training program to promote desired security practices across the organization.
  • Assist with NERC CIP audits for application controls, act as a subject matter expert during audits, and provide ongoing support for the NERC CIP compliance program and associated control processes and tools.
  • Offer guidance, direction, and mentorship to project teams, employees, contractors, and student specialists.
  • A comprehensive understanding of both technical and business aspects is essential for success in this collaborative team environment dedicated to client service.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in an information systems support role, including project leadership across diverse experiences.
  • Strong technical comprehension of application development practices coupled with robust analytical skills.
  • This role necessitates unescorted access to critical cyber assets, requiring candidates to meet all Company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security prerequisites, including a background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems/Technology
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers on cybersecurity issues
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging cybersecurity threats
  • Proven capability to develop talent and build a highly effective team
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity program structures, processes, and contemporary cybersecurity trends/issues
  • Understanding of compliance and regulations pertaining to IT risk management, compliance, and cybersecurity
  • Experience in Threat and Vulnerability Analysis and Management
  • Knowledge of Data/Network/Application security
  • Experience in change and configuration management
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity technologies
