Position Summary

As an Ironworker Foreman at JGM, you will plan and execute work activities safely while providing technical support to your team. You will collaborate closely with clients, superintendents, project managers, and field operations managers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project strategies and specifications. Your leadership will guide crews in the layout, assembly, and installation of various structural components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of workers involved in the layout, rigging, welding, assembly, and installation of structural steel.
  • Continuously plan work to ensure your journeyman team can execute high-quality tasks safely and efficiently, with all necessary materials and equipment ready for each assignment.
  • Engage in project pre-planning and short interval planning.
  • Monitor your team's safe execution of tasks while ensuring the delivery of the highest quality finished products.
  • Set and measure production goals, providing updates to the project team through daily logs.
  • Communicate project details effectively while guiding team members on procedures and safety requirements.
  • Delegate responsibilities and continuously train and develop future foremen and journeymen, providing constructive feedback.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications accurately.
  • Operate various equipment, including man lifts, forklifts, welding units, and more.

Qualifications

  • A proven builder with five to ten years of experience as an ironworker journeyman.
  • At least five years of experience in a supervisory role leading a team or overseeing projects.
  • Proficient in interpreting specifications and technical documents, particularly blueprints and drawings.
  • Possess initiative and a competitive drive, maintaining focus on results despite changing conditions.
  • A strategic thinker capable of establishing and managing plans while fostering relationships.
  • Ability to generate timely solutions through quick decision-making.
  • Strong leadership style that is both goal-oriented and motivating, capable of training and engaging others.
  • Excellent communication skills, characterized by an outgoing and persuasive style.
  • Quick learner who adapts to changing conditions effectively.
  • A sense of urgency and confidence in handling various challenges, committed to project success and high achievement standards.
  • Exceptional client and team support skills.
  • Adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • OSHA 10 certification is required.
  • Valid Driver's License is necessary.
  • Completion of OSHA 30 is required upon hiring.
  • NCCER credentials are preferred.
  • Rigging credentials are preferred.
  • Experience in the industrial construction sector is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Procore is preferred.

  • Flexibility to travel for all projects is necessary.
